Stuttgart Airport (STR) lies just 13 km / 8 miles south of Stuttgart city centre on the A8 motorway, which gives good access to the road systems of Germany and Europe. There are numerous travel options from Stuttgart Airport; these include buses, taxis, trains and the S-Bahn.


Buses


Stuttgart Airport is served by five local bus routes: numbers 74, 122, 809, 828 and Express route 36. They all run to the city before serving different local areas. All buses leave from the bus stop outside Terminal 1 Arrivals, where there are also timetables and details of the routes. The journey time to Stuttgart is approximately 40 minutes and buses generally leave every half hour, with services running from 05:00 to 00:00.

S-Bahn Trains


Stuttgart Airport has two local S-Bahn train service links: the S2 to Schorndorf and the S3 to Backnang. Both services run to the Hauptbahnhof Central Train Station in Stuttgart. The journey time from the airport to Central Station is 27 minutes and trains run every 10 to 20 minutes from 05:08 on weekdays (05:48 on Sundays and holidays) to 00:25. Stuttgart Central Railway Station is on the German national rail network and from there it is possible to catch trains to the rest of Germany and Europe.

Taxi Cabs


Taxi services run from the airport 24 hours. There are taxi ranks situated outside terminals 1 and 3 on both the Arrivals and the Departures levels.
